Mike Brown, US Army
Veterans Charity Ride Rider
I was born in Warrenton, VA where I lived until I was 8. My family moved to the Nashville, TN area where I spent the rest of my time prior to joining the Army in 2005. After basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, I was stationed in Fort Shafter, HI where I met my wife (of 8 years currently but 9 as of June 23rd).
My wife, Kim, and I started our family in 2007 when we had daughter, Alyssa. Due to the fiscal restraints we faced starting a family in Hawaii (we didn’t even have money for Christmas the first year) there was no way I could take the required motorcycle safety courses or afford a new motorcycle.
Six months after our daughter was born, I was deployed to Mosul, Iraq where I had my left leg blown off below the knee by a Russian made RKG-3 anti tank grenade. That injury took me to Walter Reed where I did rehab until rejoining the Active Army.
Ever since 2009 I have been looking for someone who specializes in teaching someone like me to ride a bike with the most pure experience possible (with as little modification to the bike). A ride like this would be an uplifting event that I could hardly put into words.
